On a trip to Quebec City I thought I'd try a little plein air sketching. Near Terrasse Dufferin is a statue of Samuel de Champlain, the city's founder.

I sat by the Chateau Frontenac and did this drawing. It was funny because there were so many tourists around and many people commented on my sketch, some in French, hopefully those were compliments.

One family took a photo with me as I sketched. I can't explain that one! It was fun to work in public, but feeling the eyes on my sketchbook made drawing with confidence a little challenging.
